8 Accountability Coach Tips To Stay Motivated

If you’re feeling stuck and need to find a way to stay motivated, you’re not alone. Everyone suffers from a lack of drive at some point. Just because you are feeling this way does not mean you can’t get your mojo back. By practising the below accountability coach tips and tricks, you will be more productive in no time at all. But first, we need to understand motivation and what creates it.

What is motivation?

In its most straightforward form, motivation means your desire to do something is greater than any desire not to do it. Motivation could come from passion, excitement, frustration, or discontentment. Any of these emotions could persuade you into action.

Being unmotivated is, of course, the opposite. You struggle to take action. Feeling unmotivated is most likely caused by one or a few of the following:

  • Lack of purpose

  • Lack of structure/routine

  • Unrealistic goals

  • Lack of focus

  • Self-doubt

8 ways you can get over your lack of motivation

1. Find your why

Tapping into your why can encourage a sense of motivation deep within you. That is because motivation is intricately linked to your deep reason for doing something. When you are in a rut and feeling unmotivated, ask yourself what your deeper purpose is for doing this thing? Usually, pondering this can help motivate you into action and find a new sense of passion for the task. This is something an accountability coach would work with all their clients on.

2. Use a schedule

Newton’s Law says an object in motion will stay in motion. Momentum is crucial to staying in the zone and being motivated. One way you can do this is by creating a schedule and sticking to it. A habit coach can help you maintain your schedule and hold you accountable.

3. Routine and rituals will save you

Routines and rituals lead to habits, and once you form a habit, you will be unstoppable.

Whether it is sitting at the computer with a cup of tea or writing with a specific pen, having the ritual will keep you motivated. As an accountability coach, one thing I know is you need to stay persistent. Don’t give up before your ritual becomes a habit.

4. Use visualisation

The next productivity coach hack involves your mind. We all know that visualising the end goal can have an enormous effect on an outcome.

Motivation usually comes back quickly when you think about the bigger picture. Think about what you are working towards and keep that top of mind daily.

5. Be smart with your goals

Your goals can’t be too easy that you will get bored, and they can’t be too hard that you will give up. Set specific, relevant, timely, and measurable goals to work towards and achieve. This is one of the first things an accountability coach does with their clients, and it helps to work out the direction and assess success.

6. Get rid of distractions

We all know distractions kill motivation: no Netflix, no YouTube, no chatting.

  • Work for 25 minutes on one task

  • Take a quick five minute break to recharge

  • Repeat

  • Take longer breaks when you need them.

7. Listen to your body

You need to take breaks and let your body and mind recharge. Sleep, do a hobby or hang with friends and family.

8. Create a great work environment

Your work environment needs to feel good. As an accountability coach, I recommend the following to ensure motivation in your space:

  • Remove clutter

  • Nice furniture

  • Good natural lighting (no harsh lights)
